PMS Monday: Who's Got The Button?

Hello strangers! Sorry I didn't post this weekend but I needed a BREAK! I feel a bit better now but I do have a tangent that I would love to get your opinion on (see the bottom of this post).

This week's PMS DT challenger is Dawn K whose challenge is to use buttons! I knew that some people would go button crazy (and they did-check THIS out) but I have been in a simple mood lately and went for just one button on my creation...
I am not too happy with how this layout turned out. I had a whole other idea in my head for the sentiment and the rub-on's but time just got away from me so here ya go. This is a picture of Todd and me on our one year anniversary AND very newly engaged. :) We were *ahem* "healthier" at the time but man I wish I could get my hair to do that again! LOL I also love the Ranch Lay's potato chips above our heads-classic! :)

This gorgeous sentiment is one of the newly released digi sentiments from Paper Makeup. I know this sentiment probably does not seem like it matches the picture but trust me-it does.

I would LOVE for you guys to play along this week. You do not have to use Paper Makeup to participate AND you never know when Katie will randomly pick a winner from the participants so why not play? Check out the PMS blog for all the deets.

Another Christi tangent...
I have a question for you...do you ever get tired of your stamping style? I was browsing through my cards this weekend and realized that I am not happy with my style. I want to go more simple with my stamping and get more into scrapbooking but how do you change your style? It seems like no matter what I do I still stamp like me. Does that make sense or does that sound totally insane? Well, regardless I am tired of how I stamp and am ready to get out of this funk. When you get feelings like this what do you do? I haven't bought new supplies in months (literally) and I think this could be affecting my mood a lot. I have had people offer to send me things (thank you...you know who you are) and that does help but here I sit still funking. LOL *whew* Ok, just typing that made me feel a tad better and I can't wait to hear your comments. :) Tangent over...hahaha!!!

Have a good one!

Stamps: Something So Small Sentiment (Paper Makeup Stamps)

Love your scrapbook page Christi!

As for the funk w/the stamping-style? Oh my yes! I've been scrapbooking for over 11 years, and stamping for about 3. It's been hard to switch-gears and get more into stamping, but now that I am (that's mostly all I do now), I find it hard to get back into my scrapbooking.

I think it's normal to every once in a while get a little creative-block, needing some refreshment. And what do I do? I buy some new supplies! That, or I'll try to learn a new technique.

I hope that my stamping abilities and creativity improve over time and eventually evolve into something that 'fits' me.

One of the things that helps me is to pick one thing I like from someone's card or layout that I would like to add to my style. Then I try to incorporate that into my card. Yesterday, I actually went back to my old SU sample box. The cards look horribly outdated now, but I redid one, following the layout exactly, but adding a scallop punch here and a CB folder there and it turned out adorable. Maybe if you find an older card you love you can update it... Just random thoughts. Don't spend too much time blog surfing, either. It tends to make us discontent with who we are... :-) Blessings!

Love this layout Christi! It's gorgeous!!

I know what youa re saying about style. I sometimes think mys tuff all starts to look the same but for the most part I have some to terms with it. The realitt is I like clean, simple & linear - it's what works for me!! Just embrace your style - it most definitely works for you. Your work is gorgeous!!

Even though you may not like this, I think it turned out so nice! Great job!
I struggle often with my style as I tend to be more on the simple side and always think I'm lacking but lately I've been seeing that is what is so great about this hobby, it doesn't matter...we all have our style and there is no right or wrong way. Hugs!

I love the layout, Christi!! I sometimes struggle what I want my style to be...I don't think my style is Clean and Simple but I get more response when I make CAS cards...Do I switch my style to more simple?? I guess only the time and opportunity will tell ;)
I don't know if this cheers you up but I have passed a award onto you because I love your style and blog. Come to check my blog!(you have to scroll down a couple posts...)

Christi,

I think your style is wonderful!!! I tend to like the less simple and more involved though!!! I need to just get some scrapping done some time!!!!

I am in St. Louis visiting Janna Hull and got to meet Jess this weekend too!!! It has been a total blast!!! I have pictures of all 3 of us and some funny stories about our weekend if you want to see the 3 of us together!!!

I will be back later today or tomorrow to see your twinkling card, but I am making the 8 hour trek back to Kansas today so it may be tomorrow!!!

I think this layout is really sweet. You could always have cropped that chips out if you really hated them, lol...or added an embellishment...I do that a lot to hide things (you know, like chub rolls when it's an old picture of me LOL).
The white rub-ons are the PERFECT touch to this page. I also love the ghost heart with the button. Really cute.

I think you stamp like *you* because, hello, you ARE YOU.
I think what you're missing (like we talked about Friday) is stamping/scrapping for ENJOYMENT. Passion shows in the work, i.e. "the proof is in the pudding".
Your work lately is still right on up there as far as quality and greatness...but I do sense (more so in your actual blog language) a little lack of passion. Maybe designate one day a week where it's just YOU time...so stamping or scrapping. Recharge your batteries. Pick up a book. Do Christi stuff.

You just gotta get back to the basics. Craft because you love it...not because it's a job. :o)

I love your page, Christi...the rubons look great and I love the button over the clear heart!! I hear ya about your style issue...I have wanted to do some scrapbooking, too, but time is always an issue!!! Sometimes you just have to through caution to the wind and do exactly what you feel like doing...you are sooo talented that what ever you do, it will be wonderful!!!
